Answers to common questions about ground preparation, rolled turf laying, watering and care after installation.
The cost depends on the size of the area, the condition of the existing ground, the amount of soil required, the terrain, site access and the amount of preparation work needed. Send us photos of the area, the approximate size and the location of the property - we will prepare a preliminary estimate.
Yes. We carry out the necessary ground preparation work - removing unwanted vegetation and debris, preparing the soil, levelling the area and firming the surface. The exact scope of work is determined after inspecting the area and considering the desired result.
No. The existing lawn and unwanted vegetation must first be removed. Rolled turf needs firm contact with properly prepared soil. If it is laid over old turf, the roots will not be able to reach the soil properly and the new lawn may establish unevenly.
Rolled turf can be laid from spring to autumn as long as the soil is not frozen and regular watering can be provided. Turf establishes more easily in cool, moist weather, while hot and dry conditions require especially careful watering.
The visual result is immediate after installation. For the turf to connect with the prepared soil and develop a stable root system, it usually takes around 10-14 days. The rooting speed depends on temperature, moisture, soil conditions and ongoing care.
Immediately after installation, the turf should be watered thoroughly, including the soil beneath it. During the first 7-10 days, the surface should remain evenly moist but not waterlogged. In dry, hot or windy weather, watering may be needed once or twice a day. After the turf has rooted, watering can be less frequent but deeper.
An automatic irrigation system is not essential, but the lawn must receive even and regular moisture across the entire area. On larger lawns, automatic irrigation makes maintenance much easier and helps prevent dry, unevenly watered areas.
During the first few days, walking on the lawn should be limited, as the moist base can develop dents and the turf may shift. The lawn can be used more actively once it has rooted well - usually after around 10-14 days. You can check this by gently lifting the edge of the turf: if you feel resistance, the roots have begun to establish.
The first mowing should be done once the turf has rooted and reached a suitable mowing height - usually around 7-14 days after installation. Use sharp, lightweight equipment and remove no more than one-third of the grass height at a time.
Immediately after installation, the joins may be slightly visible, but with proper installation the rolls fit tightly together without large gaps. With sufficient watering and proper care, the turf establishes and the joins gradually become less noticeable.
Yes, rolled turf can also be laid on slopes. In these areas, a stable and properly prepared base, good drainage and securing the turf are especially important so it does not move or slip while the roots are establishing.
